aWebVisit - Summary

(from 07/May/2000:08:58:27 to 04/Jun/2000:11:52:07)

1. Introduction

aWebVisit extracts visitor information from WWW logfiles. For each visit, your web pages are then classified as an entry, transit, exit and/or hit&run page. The links followed during the visit to your website are classified as incoming, internal, outgoing and/or in&out links. If you are not familiar with these concepts, you will find more detailed explanations in the Help file.

The flow of visitors through your website can be summarised as follows :

Entry Transit Exit Hit&Run --> Entry --> Entry Incoming Incoming Internal Internal Outgoing Outgoing In&Out In&Out Exit --> Exit --> --> Hit&Run --> Hit&Run

Some global web maps are available. Try using aWebVisit-Map for individual page maps...

2. Logfile Information

Start date 07/May/2000:08:58:27
End date 04/Jun/2000:11:52:07
'Page' hits 14488
'Image' hits 4780

Valid entries 19268

The 'page' hits represent 75.2 % of all valid hits on your website. The 'image' hits are excluded as specified in the current configuration of aWebVisit. You do not need to include or exclude other types of pages for the moment...

This is probably a good number for statistical analysis : enough samples to be useful, but small enough to be processed quickly...

Total 14488 100.0   4260 100.0   1 3.4 304 2.1 /

It is worthwhile spending some time on this table. Notice for instance that of the 14488 page visits, 31.0 % are hit & runs. Or that of the 4260 different pages on your website, 22.4 % are used as an exit page at least once.

Based on the 1593 entries to your website, you can also see that 6.1 % of your visitors use page / to enter your site, and 4.7 % use the same page right before leaving your website. And page /video/mpeg/index.html is responsible for 3.3 % of the hit & runs.

5. Link Information

Total 7248 100.0   5680 100.0   1 1.3 78 1.1 / /

Interpretation of this table is similar to the one above. Note that redirects by your web server will also appear as links, and that frames will generate links between the main frame and its children.

Since 4260 different pages were visited and 5680 different links were followed on your website, we can say that visitors usually follow 1.3 links per page. This means that you may not have enough hyperlinks on your site, or that they are hardly ever used.
