Built on a foundation of caring,
Jon Fox has a record developed over a
career for the people he represents.
Lowering Taxes
As Montgomery County Commissioner, Jon Fox cut taxes two years in a row.
As Congressman, Jon fought for the first Federal tax cuts in 16 years.
These tax cuts will help working families with a $500 per child tax credit,
educational savings accounts, capital gains cuts and expanded tax relief for
the self-employed.
Jon Fox authored the Taxpayers Bill of Rights III..
The goal is to put the taxpayers back in charge-not the IRS.
This bill protects our rights against IRS audit quotas and makes the
IRS responsible for the advice it gives to taxpayers, and shifts the burden
of proof from taxpayers to the IRS where it belongs. Making the IRS accountable
to taxpayers is a right first step toward achieving tax reform.
Balancing The Budget
At every level of government at which Jon Fox has served, he has balanced budgets.
In the process of balancing the Federal budget, 760 duplicative programs were eliminated
or consolidated. The balanced Federal budget will help keep interest rates low.
This means lower costs for you to purchase a new home, car or pay college tuition.
Reforming Welfare
Welfare has long been the prime example of what is wrong with Federal programs.
The program served its bureaucracy better than it helped people in need. It was filled
with waste, fraud and abuse totaling billions of dollars annually.
Jon Fox worked to dramatically restructure welfare to emphasize education, job training,
job placement, and family and personal responsibilities while retaining benefits for those
who are destitute and for the care of children.
Jon Fox is a great friend of senior citizens.
As a state legislator he championed legislation that created the M.O.M. program to
control health care costs.
As our Congressman, he continues to support seniors, fighting for the passage of legislation
to extend the life of Medicare, maintain COLA increases, provide seniors with more health care
choices and add new health care preventative tests.
Jon Fox's Senior Citizen Bill of Rights will provide tax relief to seniors on gains
from the sale of their principal residence and eliminate the 1993 tax on Social Security.
Controlling Spending
Over the next decade, government spending will be reduced by $961 billion. This will
substantially lower the debt passed on to our children and grandchildren.
Jon Fox wants to use projected surpluses to ensure the solvency of Social Security,
pay down the Federal debt, and to provide additional tax relief for hard
working Montgomery County families.
