aWebVisit - Summary

(from 07/Jan/2000:01:50:23 to 04/Jun/2000:07:34:55)

1. Introduction

aWebVisit extracts visitor information from WWW logfiles. For each visit, your web pages are then classified as an entry, transit, exit and/or hit&run page. The links followed during the visit to your website are classified as incoming, internal, outgoing and/or in&out links. If you are not familiar with these concepts, you will find more detailed explanations in the Help file.

The flow of visitors through your website can be summarised as follows :

Entry Transit Exit Hit&Run --> Entry --> Entry Incoming Incoming Internal Internal Outgoing Outgoing In&Out In&Out Exit --> Exit --> --> Hit&Run --> Hit&Run

Some global web maps are available. Try using aWebVisit-Map for individual page maps...

2. Logfile Information

Start date 07/Jan/2000:01:50:23
End date 04/Jun/2000:07:34:55
'Page' hits 647
'Image' hits 22
Hits from excluded hosts
Skipped entries 0
Valid entries 669

The 'page' hits represent 96.7 % of all valid hits on your website. The 'image' hits are excluded as specified in the current configuration of aWebVisit. You may want to exclude other types of pages (e.g. RealAudio, counters, ...) in a next run...

This is probably not a large enough sample for statistical analysis. Please use logfiles covering a longer period of time...

3. Visit Information

11.2 % of your visitors visit at least two pages on your site, which is pretty bad ! Have a closer look at the hit & run pages and see if you might keep them on your site...

Total 647 100.0   16 100.0   1 40.4 307 47.4 /

It is worthwhile spending some time on this table. Notice for instance that of the 647 page visits, 8.8 % are hit & runs. Or that of the 16 different pages on your website, 37.5 % are used as an exit page at least once.

Based on the 39 entries to your website, you can also see that 89.7 % of your visitors use page / to enter your site, and 69.2 % use page /robots.txt right before leaving your website. And the same entry page is also responsible for 61.4 % of the hit & runs.

5. Link Information

Total 55 100.0   12 100.0   1 4.6 30 54.5 / /robots.txt

Interpretation of this table is similar to the one above. Note that redirects by your web server will also appear as links, and that frames will generate links between the main frame and its children.

Since 16 different pages were visited and 12 different links were followed on your website, we can say that visitors usually follow 0.8 links per page. This means that you may not have enough hyperlinks on your site, or that they are hardly ever used.

6. Status Information

Code Description Hit
Count
Hits
(%)
200 Okay 384 57.4
403 Forbidden Requests 1 0.1
404 Not Found Requests 284 42.5
Total   669 100.0

The 'usual' status codes, i.e. 200 (Okay) and 304 (Not modified), represent 57.4 % of all hits.
The others are examined in more detail here.
