Though Pulling Teeth (2 Benton Road, Saginaw, MI 48602-1944) delivers a cohesive disc, its music is such a blend of styles that its particular brand of alternative-laced metallic rock is tough to identify. The CD gets more memorable with each listen, however, indicating strong musicianship. The wall of sound suggests a powerful live experience, while the band's tempo changes from song to song keep things interesting.

Public Library's (7340 Cadle Ave., Mentor, OH 44060) light, poppy sound would be likely to succeed in alternative clubs, in coffeehouses, or on the big stage for crowds young and old. The sound on WHERE ONCE WERE WINDOWS is full and lush, while Leigh Anne Bowling's crisp, high vocals are at different times haunting, light, and sharply harsh. This CD is a very real, human emotional experience.
