The Bellamy Brothers recently performed two 20-minute sets for Governor George W. Bush and running-mate Dick Cheney during the final stop on the "Bush/Cheney Air & Rail" tour in Springfield, Illinois.
"We are honored that Governor Bush would ask us to perform for his Presidential campaign," said David Bellamy in advance of the event. "Howard and I performed at the New Hampshire Primary event for Governor Bush and the one funny thing to me was when Gov. Bush stopped, requested, and danced to one of our #1 hits ‘Redneck Girl.’ So we will be performing that one for sure."
The Bellamy Brothers are heralding their 25th Anniversary this year with the release of their new album Lonely Planet. The Bellamy Brothers average more than 250 concerts a year, but the band's Bush/Cheney invitation is clearly an honor for the legendary country road warriors.
