Jon Fox understands our community,
and his priorities in Washington reflect his experiences
as a Township Commissioner and State Representative.
Library Funding
Community libraries are important community assets. Congressman Jon Fox secured a $100,000
grant to support MCLINK. This program will link 15 county libraries to other organizations
and share a common database. This will enable our community libraries to provide services that
were usually only found at much larger facilities.
Highways & Roads
As a majority Member on the important Transportation Committee, Jon Fox
was able to secure
$42 million for Montgomery County projects. $13.4 million is earmarked
to rebuild the Route 309
expressway, and $4 million for sound barriers.
These funds, when linked with PennDOT money, will help to make Route 309
a safe highway again.
Open Space
As our County Commissioner, Jon Fox helped to start our county program for preserving
dwindling open
spaces. As our Congressman, Jon Fox continues his commitment to the important
quality-of-life issue. The recent $500,000 Federal grant secured by Congressman
Fox will help expand township parks, trails,
and recreational opportunities.
Flood Victims Relief
The disastrous floods that hit eastern Montgomery County on September 8, 1996,
destroyed 16 homes, damaged hundreds of others, and left several neighborhoods
devastated.
Congressman Jon Fox wasted no time in having the region declared a Federal di
saster area, setting up a FEMA relief center, and making $2 million Federal
dollars available to the flood's victims.
