Story

This house on Ridge Avenue belonged to Captain Joseph Starne and was built in 1795. It has seven working fireplaces and is of the Federal Style. Captain Starne joined the Continental Army at age 16 in 1778 and also served in the War of 1812. He went on to be an Army Captain in 1815. The Starnes originally lived a block east of this house and were in the tanning trade.
