Doobie Brothers Concert Review

Sometimes the old saying "You get what you pay for" just isn't true. The Doobie Brothers performed at a free concert at the Willow Grove, PA, Naval Base. Though admission was free, you sure got a lot more than you paid for.

For many, the crowd was probably too large. Maybe they had to sit too far from the stage. That was not a problem for us. We managed to get up close. The sound was great. You might think with so many members in their ensemble the sound would be muddy. No, it was clean and crisp. Tom Johnston was a real treat to see and hear. The sound of the classic organ was nice, too.

A bit of a surprise for me were the Doobie songs I was unfamiliar with. I guess they were from their earliest albums. But, not knowing the songs didn't matter. They had that classic blues rhythm and texture that made them feel like comfort food for the soul.

All in all, the show was worth way more than the price of admission.

Songs included: Listen To The Music, Long Train Runnin', China Grove, Black Water, Takin' It To The Streets, What A Fool Believes and Minute By Minute.
