Waste Management, Inc. named in Securities Class Action filed on behalf of Waste Management Stock Purchasers

Philadelphia, August 20, 1999 - The law firm of Donovan Searles, LLC announces that a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas on behalf of purchasers of Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE - WMI) common stock from March 31, 1999 through July 6, 1999 (the "Class Period"). The Complaint alleges that, during the Class Period, Waste Management and certain of its officers and directors (collectively, the "Defendants") violated Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, by among other things, issuing materially false and misleading statements to the investing public regarding Waste Management’s business, operations, financial condition and performance. The Complaint alleges that, as a result of the Defendants’ material misrepresentations, the price of Waste Management’s common stock was artificially inflated, causing damages to purchasers during the Class Period. The Complaint further alleges that certain officers and directors engaged in insider selling during the Class Period at prices that were artificially inflated and without disclosing the material facts.
