United Currency Options Market
Virtual Currency Options ("3-D"): 3-D (Dollar-Denominated Delivery) Deutsche marks started trading in September 1994 as the first cash-settled currency option that automatically settles in U.S. dollars. 3-D's were designed to allow investors to protect against or benefit from fluctuations in the value of a currency without the need to establish foreign currency accounts or international bank lines. Similar to index options, the investor merely pays or receives the difference between the strike price and settlement value established at 10:30 am ET on the expiration day which is Monday. 3-D's are European-style options that have maturities ranging from one week to nine months.
