First Second-Generation AO Fellow from North America
Twenty-three years ago, Dr. Chris Michelson became one of the first North Americans to experience an AO Fellowship in Switzerland. His fellowship with Professors Martin Allg”wer and Stephan Perren initiated a long-term association with the AO; Professor Michelson is currently a member of AO North America, an AO faculty member, and Chief of Orthopaedics and the Orthopaedic Spine Service at Columbia-Presbyterian in New York City.

We are pleased to report that Chris' daughter Heidi, who is completing her orthopaedic residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Center, will soon become the first second-generation AO Fellow from North America. Heidi has been accepted by AO International for a fellowship beginning in September 1999, with Prof. Pietro Regazzoni in Basel, Switzerland. Congratulations to both Michelsons on this historic occasion.
